Hay Hay Hay

Greetings, my dears, from Seattle. Pardon my typing if it's a little lopsided–the Men's Fall Knitting Retreat 2010 has just adjourned, and yesterday we made merry until the wee hours at the traditional Movie Night Pajama Party.

In the aftermath, I can state with confidence that you haven't experienced Young Frankenstein to the fullest until you've heard thirty grown men sing, "Roll, roll, roll in ze hay!" in falsetto with Teri Garr.

The coming week promises to be interesting, starting with a book signing tomorrow (Monday) evening at The Fiber Gallery (7000 Greenwood Avenue North) from 5 pm–6pm, so look for a posting or two (at least) as adventures develop.

Supper is due at any moment, so I'd just like to show you this–the Sahar Stole I wrote about ages back but was only able to present in black and white as the colorway hadn't been released.

Sahar Stole

The yarn is Lorna's Laces Honor, a silk/alpaca DK in the colorway "Fjord." The pattern is available for sale via download–my first foray into that sort of thing. (You don't have to be a Ravelry member to click over, so don't be shy.)

Just been called in to supper, which means I have no time to tell you another story about the Men's Retreat and why my left shin has turned blue. Another time, perhaps.

Very nicely done. I love how the elements flow gracefully into each other.

(I'm referring to the stole, not Teri Garr.)

Wow - that is fabulous. I can't imagine making something like that - really really beautiful.

So amazing.. and I cannot wait to find out what caused your shin to be blue.. if it was dyeing cool.. if someone kicked you really hard then, OUCH! that rat bastard...take care of it....

Oh Franklin. I was raised on Mel Brooks movies (and Monty Python). And Young Frankenstein is one of my families favorites. My niece Bratty Girl got really confused when she was about 10 years old and thought that The Passion of the Christ was a Mel Brooks movie and (after I stopped laughing and changed my panties) I had to explain to her the difference between Brooks and Gibson.

P.S. Pretty shawl.

The stole is gorgeous - the way you've joined it is genius. The way the stitches flow back into each other is wonderful.

You clever thing!

The stole is beautiful. The way the patterns segue into each other you could have called it the Escher Stole.

That stole leaves me "pining for the Fjord".

I just heard "The Musicals of Mel Brooks" on Broadway Revisited a couple of weeks ago and have been thinking we must introduce the kid to Young Frankenstein.

Now I'll have "Roll, roll, roll in ze hay!" stuck in my head all day.

Thirty-five years ago this summer, on a return flight from London to NYC, we watched "Young Frankenstein" as the in-flight movie--without headphones. If it had had subtitles, it would have been a great silent flick!

My god, how old am I?

BTW, beautiful shawl, love the color!

Firstly, beautiful shawl. WANT!

Secondly, is hearing 30 grown men singing roll in the hay as interesting as hearing 53 journalism students yelling "Swiper, no swiping!" at the tops of their lungs?

You take the blonde. I'll take the one in the turban.

So happy you could be a part (an integral part) of the Men's Fall Knitting Retreat 2010. It just would NOT be the same w/o your smile, your expertise, and your utilikilt. xoxo
