Lady Look Like a Dude

Have you heard of this man?

If not, I can pretty much guarantee that you're going to at some point in the next several months.

He has a book coming out in just a week or so. And though my own taste in literature runs heavily to things written a minimum of 50 years before I was born, his is too intriguing to pass up.

There's more here, including an interesting excerpt from the first chapter.

Laughter Amid Tears

I've been sidelined for a couple days due to a shoulder problem. Nothing horrible, just an inflammation in the muscle that stems from an unfortunate collision with a hulking Lufthansa stewardess a couple years ago. (Thanks for the souvenir, Birgit. I hope you limp occasionally. It would only be fair.)

The worst part of recuperation from a flare-up is that I'm not supposed to lift weights or knit for the duration. Feh.

And now I come back to find that in my absence the place has been like the showroom in a Borscht Belt Hotel. Everybody's a comic. And some of you should be ashamed of yourselves. (Giggle.)

I enjoyed reading all the captions. I may have to do that again.

Nice of you to post some eye candy for the girls, too. (And yes, I know she's taken.)

Birgit should have more than a limp if you can't knit, honey...

Can't knit? Ya. The physiotherapist I was seeing for my entirely knitting related shoulder misalignment tried to suggest I stop knitting. I worked her down to just not knitting things bigger than socks for a while. :o)

Sorry to hear about your shoulder! I can so relate...I had surgery on mine in June. I hated having all kinds of restrictions.

I've been eagerly awaiting Self Made Man for some months. I think you are absolutely right, this is the kind of book that is going to garner more than a little notice. I'm looking forward to the ensuing dialogue it has the potential to create. Sorry to hear about your shoulder. Glad you are taking care of yourself. Drink plenty of tea, stick Enchanted April in the VCR (Did you now they released EA in Australia on DVD? How hard would it be to do a US release, I mean, really?) and soak up a little mediterranean sun --- you'll be feeling better in no time...

Your mom's scarf is beautiful. I like the dishcloth, having a thing for hearts. That book looks very interesting. I am a carpenter and my favorite days are the ones where the guys seem to forget I'm a girl. Thanks for posting that link. You have a terrific blog.

Found the excerpt realy enjoyable to read and strong desire for more. Since my daughter sells for Penguin I will, hopefully, be enjoying an advance copy shortly. Thanks for the tip about the book.

Love your drawings and blog. Take care with the shoulder.

This reminds me of my advice to anyone trying to look more feminine - I always tell them to act like a gay man in drag - works every time!

No doubt, the writer is completely right.
