Oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy

Mama says since I was good on Christmas Day and helped with the dishes and ate all my vegetables and didn't pull sister's hair that today we get to go to Halcyon Yarn and I am so excited it's almost like Santa put Stephen Fry in my stocking and Stephen was holding a big box of Belgian chocolate only it's even better than that because yarn doesn't make you fat except if you make a sweater out of Lamb's Pride bulky.

I'm so excited I have to pee okay bye.

WOW! Ok, now pace yourself... you do want to leave some yarn for the rest of us, remember?

    Have fun!

Oooh, I hope you get lots and lots of good good stuff. Maybe you'll find that special sock yarn - it can team up with Harry and you can take a percentage of the profits.
(And DANG, if someone had told me that I'd get to go to a neat yarn shop if *I* ate my vegetables, I would have tried harder.)

Ooohh, boy, what an opportunity! Dive in, Franklin, have a great time!

(Is anyone else seeing Franklin with a shoelace untied, a pants leg rucked up, carrying a huge basket of yarn with strands trailing behind him, various smudges of dust all over from digging in the far back corners? You know, sort of a Knitter Boy Norman Rockwell, updated. And Sister Sue keeping a firm grasp on some part of him so he doesn't run in five directions at once. Or maybe it's Dolores riding herd on both of them... Wups, no, my mistake. Dolores has managed to find either a bar or someone 2 axehandles across at the shoulders. Who likes sheep.)

I am so jealous - I wanna go too! What did you buy? Everything? Did they kick you out for panting?

I bought some mohair that was ready to be dyed from them and it was WAAAAY fun. They have other ready to dyes and you can use kool aid or dye from walmart in the craft section. It is great fun.
I hope you enjoyed yourself for all of us.
    Thanks
    Holly

  15. Just in case you get all wound up on the yarn at Halcyon and you need a bit of a change of scenery, you may want to go for a visit to Bath Iron Works where they make big old ships. It's only a couple of blocks from Halcyon on the same street. http://www.gdbiw.com/ Perhaps you could arrange to take a breather from yarn acquisition around the time of the shift change. Just a thought. Heee.

Try not to drool on the yarn, sweetie.

    Oooh I'm so jealous.

On my first trip through Bath in July, Halycon was closed. I had my nose pressed against the window, when a charming couple appeared and asked me what I was doing. They were the Halycon Parental Units.

I made my hubby go back when they were open.

I wasn't good at all, but I ate all of my veggies, does that count?

Oooh and they have fiber, too. I'm proud of you for being such a good boy. Have fun shopping!

    Halcyon is the Promised Land.

Please bring me back a relic, preferably not the earbone of St. Stanislaw the Soporific.

Anything will do. That is my favorite fiber shop, bar none.

  24. Halcyon.... aka knitters' nirvana.

Hope you enjoy every minute of it. Fabulous place - amazing fiber selection, great employees -- and a nice table for non-knitting accompaniers to sit at while the fiber addicted go through SEX ecstasy.

Wishing eating my veggies had gotten me a trip to ME and Halcyon. Well, there's always next summer.......

  25. Way to go.
This particular stream of consciousness brightened my morning.
My kiddos always have to pee when they are happy or relieved, too. One's 19 and the other's 26. And sometimes when they've reassured ME, it happens to me. Happy New Year. Can't wait to see what you came home with.

  26. LOL!! Hope it lived up to your expectations!

Oh, I wish I had seen this entry when it was new! I do love Halcyon, but my most favorite yarn store in all of Southern Maine (and I do believe I go to all of them) is Purl Diva in Brunswick. The owner is so fun, and the yarn selection is drool-worthy. Especially the sock yarn selection!

That place is great. I especially love the Giant Wall of Yarn when you walk in. It makes me want to make a Giant Catapult and launch myself right into it. But the real bonanza at Halcyon is their book collection. They have EVERYTHING.... Have fun!

I was at Halcyon last Friday. My mum lives in Topsham, so I too got to spend the holiday in brown, muddy Maine. (Why did they hide the snow?) I hope you enjoyed it!
